Monferrato beloont wie het rustig aan doet. De dorpen liggen op heuveltoppen op een paar kilometer van elkaar, elk met een kerk, een kasteel of een toren en uitzicht over de wijngaarden, en alles hieronder past binnen een cirkel van vijftien kilometer rond de cascina.
Zo zouden wij het doen: op de fiets op vrijdag en zaterdagochtend, met de auto naar de dorpen en Canelli, met lange maaltijden ertussen. Elke stop staat genummerd op de kaart, en de restaurants zijn het waard om vooraf te reserveren.

Kom je vrijdagochtend aan? Begin dan bij de weekmarkt, die tot ongeveer één uur de pleinen van Nizza vult. En op de derde zondag van de maand is er ook de grote antiekmarkt.
Op de fiets naar de aperitivo
Inchecken, een fiets pakken en in tien minuten naar Nizza. Begin met een glas in een wijnbar, blijf eten in de stad en stop op de terugweg voor een ijsje.
