Our first Fiera del Rapulé in Calosso

Heleen's brother was in town in October, so we took him to the Fiera del Rapulé in Calosso, the village's autumn fair, held on the third weekend of October since 2000.

The route winds through the lanes, courtyards and stairways of the old centre and down into the crotin, the cellars cut into the tufa under the houses, with Piedmontese dishes and the wines of Calosso's producers along the way. We went in the evening, and the atmosphere was amazing. So was the live music: see the video.

Two tips. You pay in the fair's own tokens, which are called crotin too: buy enough upfront, or you might end up queuing again when you run out. And if you bring children, Sunday during the day, with the market and the grape crushing, is probably the better time to go.
